Beach at dusk, 20th floor

Arrived in Rio yesterday morning having flown all night (I don’t sleep very well on airplanes). This was captured at dusk from my hotel room. One of the things about the beach in Rio is it runs east-west instead of north-south as have all the beaches I have ever been on.

I’ll post more images as I get them; also the internet access in the hotel is very spotty.

  1. Hi Chris,

Oh…Rio? Very nice. I wish I was there to soak in the warmth. The beach looks awesome. Nice photo. Enjoy your weekend!

Looks great wish I was there.

Alan, I’m here for work, the World Urban Forum. I’ll be working the show floor in the sweltering heat. It’s not all fun, believe me.

  4. Chris Klug says:

Photographically, I could spend weeks here; so many images. I’ll be posting more later this evening.

Wow! Talk about a change in scenery! I hope you manage a little play time to exploret and that we get to see more of these.

  6. Chris Klug says:

Anita, well, the work here was intense (it is a trade show, and for anyone who has worked a trade show on the floor, you know what I mean). Also the exhibit hall was 90 degrees and humid, and we came back every night exhausted. Today I’ll get to walk around a bit.

We are quite spoiled by all of the air conditioning that we have. My Brazilian in-laws, when they come here, always complain about how cold the house is. :-) They like to open windows and let the heat in. No thanks!

I’ve not been to Rio, but it looks like you had a decent time.

  8. Chris Klug says:

Well, at the event where I was working, even the natives were complaining about the heat. The Forum was held in former warehouses on a wharf in the Bay where the Ocean liners dock. They did have some air conditioning, it just couldn’t keep up. The first day there were 20,000 people in attendance.
